New field trials confirm Green Urea NV® reduced nitrogen losses by up to 82%

New multi-site agronomy partner field trials conducted across South Australia and Victoria have demonstrated the significant role enhanced efficiency fertilisers can play in protecting nitrogen (N) following winter topdressing.

The latest field trials have proven that standard surface-applied urea can lose up to 22% of applied nitrogen through ammonia volatilisation within two weeks of application. In comparison, Green Urea NV® reduced nitrogen losses by an average of 79%, with reductions of up to 82%.

Conducted across key southern cropping regions, the trials reinforce the importance of protecting nitrogen investments during winter, when surface applications are common and seasonal conditions can increase the risk of volatilisation losses.

Key findings from the 2025 trials include:

  • Standard surface-applied urea lost up to 22% of applied nitrogen through ammonia volatilisation within two weeks.
  • Green Urea NV® reduced nitrogen losses by an average of 79%, with reductions of up to 82%.
